Deleting your Metriks account

Last updated 13 May 20263 min read

You can delete your personal Metriks account at any time from the profile page. This article walks through how to do it, what gets removed, what we retain by law, and what to take care of first.

Account ≠ company

Your Metriks user account is your personal login. A company (workspace) is the shared environment with invoices, customers, and metrics. Deleting your account removes your access to every workspace you're in; it doesn't delete the workspaces themselves. To delete a workspace, see Deleting a company.

1. Before you delete

  • If you are the only Super Admin of a workspace, promote someone else first under Settings → Team. Otherwise the workspace is left without a Super Admin and the rest of the team can't delete the workspace or change billing.
  • If you are the billing contact for a paid workspace, hand that over to a colleague before deleting — we route billing emails to that address.
  • Export anything personal you want to keep. Once your access is gone, the workspaces are no longer reachable from your account.

2. Delete the account

  1. Click your profile in the top-right corner of the app and open Profile.
  2. Scroll to the Danger Zone at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click Delete Account.
  4. In the confirmation dialog, type your account email to confirm. This protects against accidental clicks.
  5. Click Delete. Your account is removed, your session ends, and you're sent back to the login page.
There is no recovery flow

Once deletion is confirmed, your account is gone. You can sign up again later with the same email if you change your mind — there's no permanent block — but the new account starts fresh; previous workspaces are not re-attached.

3. What gets deleted

  • Your authentication record — email, password hash, MFA secret, session tokens.
  • Your user profile — name, phone, profile photo, language and notification preferences.
  • Activity log entries tied to your user — anything Metriks logged as you doing the action (e.g. "John triggered a sync") is anonymised in workspace audit trails. The action history is preserved for accounting integrity; only the link back to your identity is removed.
  • Saved view preferences personal to your account.

4. What is retained

We retain only what we're legally required to:

  • Anonymised audit-trail entries in workspaces you administered. The action history is preserved (workspaces need it for accounting integrity); only the link back to your identity is removed.
  • Metriks invoices we issued to you if you were the billing contact on a paid workspace. Required by Danish accounting law (bogføringsloven) for up to 5 years. After the retention period expires, these are deleted in the next quarterly retention sweep.

No marketing data is retained — your email is removed from our lists immediately and we won't contact you again unless you reach out. The full retention policy is in our Privacy Policy.

GDPR rights

Account deletion fulfils the GDPR right to erasure (Article 17). You also have rights to access (we send you a copy of your data), portability (machine-readable export), and correction. Those are not self-service today — email support@metriks.dk from your account email and we will action the request within the GDPR-mandated 30 days (usually within a week). The full list of rights is in our Privacy Policy.
