Managing your team in Metriks

Last updated 17 May 20265 min read

A company in Metriks is a shared workspace, and the team is the set of people who can log in to it. This guide walks through how to invite teammates, which role to pick, how to change roles later, how to handle pending invitations, and how to remove someone — all from Settings → Team management.

Who can manage the team

Only Admin and Super Admin roles can invite, change roles, or remove team members. Observers see the team list but the action buttons are disabled. If you need to add someone and can't, ask a Super Admin on your team to do it or to promote you first.

The three roles

Metriks has three roles. Pick the lowest one that lets the person do their job — you can always promote them later.

  • Super Admin — Full access including company deletion and user management. Reserve this for the people who own the workspace. There must always be at least one Super Admin on the company; Metriks will block the action if you try to remove or downgrade the last one.
  • Admin — Full access except company deletion and user management. The right default for finance leads, founders, and anyone who needs to configure sources, products, destinations, or invoicing.
  • Observer — Can view all data but cannot make changes. Use this for board members, investors, accountants, or anyone who needs read-only access to dashboards and reports without touching settings.
What about Billing and Support roles?

You may see Billing and Support referenced in older docs or APIs. Both are deprecated and treated as no-access. New invitations should use Observer, Admin, or Super Admin only.

1. Invite a teammate

  1. Open Settings → Team management.
  2. Click Add Team Member in the top-right.
  3. Enter the person's email address. They'll receive an email with a link to accept the invitation.
  4. Pick a role. The dropdown shows what each role can do, so you can compare while you decide.
  5. Click Send Invitation.

The invited email lands in your team list immediately, marked (pending). It stays there until the person accepts the invitation or you revoke it.

Admins can only assign Admin or Observer

Admins can invite at the Admin and Observer levels but not Super Admin. Only existing Super Admins can grant the Super Admin role — this prevents Admins from elevating themselves or peers to the most privileged role.

2. Pending invitations

Pending invitations sit at the bottom of the team list, below active members, with the email address shown in both the name and email columns and a (pending) label. From the three-dot menu on a pending row you can:

  • Resend Invitation — sends the invitation email again, useful if the original was missed or expired in the recipient's inbox.
  • Revoke Invitation — cancels the invitation. The original link stops working immediately. Use this if you sent it to the wrong address or no longer want that person to join.

There's no separate "pending" tab — they're part of the same list, just sorted to the bottom and marked clearly.

3. Change someone's role

Roles aren't permanent. As people change positions or you reorganise, update their access:

  1. Find the team member in the list.
  2. Open the three-dot menu on their row.
  3. Pick the new role from the menu. A checkmark shows the current role.

The change takes effect immediately on the user's next page load. They don't need to re-log in. The same Admin / Super Admin restrictions apply — Admins can promote others to Admin or Observer; only Super Admins can promote to Super Admin.

The last Super Admin is protected

If you try to downgrade the only remaining Super Admin, Metriks blocks the action. Promote someone else to Super Admin first, then change the original Super Admin's role.

4. Remove a team member

  1. Find the team member in the list.
  2. Open the three-dot menu on their row.
  3. Click Remove Member and confirm.

Removing a member revokes their access to this workspace. Their personal Metriks account stays intact — they can still be a member of other workspaces, and any data they created (invoices imported, dashboards configured) stays in your workspace. Only the link from their user to this company is cut.

The same last-Super-Admin protection applies: you can't remove the only remaining Super Admin. Promote someone else first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I transfer ownership of a workspace?

There is no single "owner" in Metriks — the role that controls a workspace is Super Admin, and there can be more than one. To hand over ownership, promote the new person to Super Admin, verify they have access, then either step down to Admin (or another role) or remove yourself entirely.

Can the same email be on multiple workspaces?

Yes. A Metriks account can be a member of any number of workspaces with different roles in each. When the person logs in they pick which company to work in from the workspace switcher.

Does removing a member delete their work?

No. Invoices, dashboards, sources and other artefacts created during their membership stay in the workspace. Only their access is removed. Audit-trail entries that reference them by name are preserved for accounting integrity.

Open the team list, find the pending row, and use Resend Invitation from the three-dot menu. That issues a fresh link and sends a new email.

Next steps

  • Deleting a company — only Super Admins can do it, and the workspace must always have at least one. Plan team changes around this constraint.
  • Deleting your account — note the Super Admin handover step if you're the only one on a workspace.
  • Getting started — share with new teammates so they can find their way around after accepting an invitation.
